Category Name:Lion Dance / Tiger Dance / Bull Dance (Lion Dance)
The Grand Festival of Omiyaji Hachimangu Shrine is said to have started about 300 years ago. The lion dance is dedicated during the autumn festival. It is held every year on the third Sunday in October. The lion dance was first performed in 1916. At that time, it is said that young people dedicated the dance as a prayer for a good harvest and the health of the shrine parishioners. It is the only lion dance in Shinwa Town. The lion dance consists of two lions (both with two people dancing inside the costume), two Tamafuri, five flutes, one big drum, one small drum, and one gong.
