Tanasoko Suwa Shrine Harvest Festival, Autumn Festival
Active
Category Name:Rites and Festivals (folk belief)
This festival is a longstanding event dedicated to praying for a stable society, peaceful households, good health and longevity, a bountiful harvest, abundant fish, and industrial prosperity through the worship of the local deity. Children's Kagura is dedicated to Tanasoko Suwa Shrine, and the dancers express their gratitude for the harvest by praising and worshipping the gods and expressing gestures of agricultural work. Tanasoko lion dance has been handed down from Miyata-Jishi lion dance or lion dance in Koutsuura in Ariake Town. The Taiko drum dance is said to have been learned from Koutsuura in Ariake Town about 170 years ago. The procession consists of four people from each village, and consists of about 50 items such as travling chests, Daigasa, spears, Kumage (bear skin), and Torige (bird feathers).
