Gezu Kenchiku-Odori (Builders Dance)

Active

Category Name:Other

This Builders Dance of the 7th Bunkan started as the Gezu Builders Dance shortly after WWII. Women volunteers from the Gezu community of Sagara Village learned the dance from Sagara villagers of the neighboring Yanase-Izawa district. It was once discontinued due to a lack of performers, but it was revived as the "7th Bunkan Builders Dance" with the inclusion of all the areas of the 7th Bunkan. Since every stage of building was done by hand in the old days, every process is humorously recreated, with the mayor as the leader, using all the tools related to construction in earlier times. It is performed at hometown festivals, cultural festivals, and athletic meets.
