The annual summer festival of Yasaka Shrine, a local shrine whose parish includes the entire Minami-Aso area, is is a grand festival held on July 15 with two portable shrines. The festival includes the dedication of Iwato Kagura, which has been performed for more than 300 years and is a Valuable Intangible Cultural Property, along with Yowatari Kagura in autumn. The kagura are held on July 15 and October 14 (Yodo Kagura).
