This festival started as an offering for a good harvest in autumn. It originally consisted of a sword dance (two boys) and a Urayasu dance (bell and sakaki) (two girls), but now only the sword and sakaki dances remain, and the sakaki dance is also performed by boys. It is performed during the annual festival of Hondo Baba Hachimangu Shrine.
