Twelve people - six "kaki" (three on each side) and six "naka" in the middle, carry poles with arrows called "karaimon" on their backs. The poles used to be about 3 meters in length. This was originally a Nembutsu dance performed on August 15th of the lunar calendar as a fifteenth night event. Introduced from the Miyazaki region, It is said to have been performed in the Meiji era.
