Kozatoko Sugawara Shrine Shishi-mai & Taiko Odori (Lion Dance & Drum Dance)

Active

Category Name:Lion Dance / Tiger Dance / Bull Dance (Lion Dance)

The Rokushaku Dochu is performed with four men who carry traveling chets, torige (pole decorated with bird feathers). There is also a shish-imai lion dance, and drum dance. The Ootabisho is set up at the port, and a lunch party is held with all the local residents around the Mikoshi. The shouting of "Chiyoyana" by the palanquin carriers is rare in nearby villages, and the gestures of the drum dance also remind us of its long tradition.
