Active

Category Name:Furyu (Mortar Drum Dance)

There is no reliable record of this dance's origin, but there are two types of dances to enjoy: the Yaku Dance and the Gwangwara Dance. The Yaku Dance includes roles such as the kashira (head), waki (flank), seki (barrier), kaneuchi (gong beater) and kari-oni or sego, who drives out a beast or corners it during a hunt. The other dance includes performers on both sides, as well as roles for chanting or clapping along, called morashi.
