This lion dance is performed on the 17th day of the 8th lunar month, the anniversary of the death of "Kannon-san" (Shiunzan Myokakuji Temple). This lion dance is considered to be a temple lion dance (Tera-jishi) , which is rare in the prefecture. It is said that Mr. Kihachiro Izumida (1813 - 1894) went to Juzenji Temple in Kawajiri to learn how to perform it.
