This is one of Aso's agricultural rituals and an important intangible cultural asset of Japan. The Nemurinagashi ritual is performed on the night of August 6th, palanquins from each local area assemble at Kokuzo Shrine and the Onda Song is sung by the palanquin bearers as they walk through the rice fields.
