It is said that during the Meiji and Taisho eras, there was trade with Shiiba Village in Miyazaki Prefecture and that the votive kagura performed in the Kozaki community in Shiiba Village was brought to this area. It is performed shrines and kagura halls of local shrines to pray for good harvests, to ward off epidemics, to ensure family safety, and for entertainment. It is a masked kagura that is based on Takachiho kagura. In Shiiba Village 36 scenes are performed throughout the night, but in Shiramizu Kagura, there are about 10 scenes. Taiko drums, flutes, and Uchi-ita are used, and vocal musical sounds are inserted between lyrics.
