This is one of Aso's agricultural rituals and an important intangible cultural asset of Japan. The Tazukuri rituals are performed at Aso Shrine over several days in March, taking place from the day of the snake to the day of the boar according to the lunar calendar. This is a festival where the Agricultural deity 'Toshine Kami' welcomes and marries a new female deity 'Hime no Kami'.
