The island where Empress Jingu gave birth to her son (Emperor Ohjin) is called Ubushima in Miyanokawachi, and the current Ubushima Hachimangu Shrine was built on the island. The Hachimangu shrine's annual festival, the "Crossing the Sea Festival," is held in late October, and the procession of several boats between the main shrine on the island and the temporary shrine on the upper shrine is truly magnificent
