Category Name:Furyu (Bon Dance)

It is said to have begun around the beginning of the Edo period, the furusato matsuri, or hometown festival, is a dance held in the school grounds of Uyanagi Elementary School in Yatsushiro City on the night of Bon as homage to those who have died since the last Bon.Using no instruments, graceful gestures accompany seductive ballads in a fluid dance of graceful choreography joined by males and females of all ages without a "stop". The dancer's outfits are characteristic, with men wearing conical straw hats and women black hoods covering the face, white kimono, and black sashes. The dance depicts a young couple of Ueyanagi named "Orisuke and Osute", who are in love with each other. The hayashi of "Yoiyasa, Yoiyasa" brings out a deep melancholy.
