This traditional Kagura entertainment is said to have originated in the 6th year of Bunsei (1823) when it was performed at Sugawara Tenmangu Shrine in Yokobori village. Thirteen different "Daikagura" performances (a type of traditional Kagura dance) have been preserved and passed on.
