Araho-gu Dedication Lion Dance

Category Name:Lion Dance / Tiger Dance / Bull Dance (Lion Dance)

Kizaki Lion Dance is performed during the autumn festival of Kizaki Arahangu Shrine. After the dance is dedicated in front of Kizaki Arahang Shrine, it is performed in each community at the requests of the heads of the communities, at newly built houses, at houses where newly wedded wives have been welcomed and where children are born. This custom is said to have been introduced from Rokka ( Kashima town) but the time when this came about is unknown. The dance was discontinued after WW2 but was revived about 20 years ago as a part of the Town and Village Development Program. It is becoming more popular every year since then and is performed on October 17.
