Ichinose Bo Odori (Stick/Staff Dance)

Active

Category Name:Furyu (Stick/Staff Dance)

This is said to have been introduced from Kugino Tenaga (now Kugino, Minamata City) about 160 years ago. It is believed to have been performed as a rain-making ritual. In recent years, the dance is performed on August 15, at households observing Hatsubon (the first Bon festival), as a memorial service for the spirits and ancestors. For a long time, the dance has been passed down only to the eldest son in the district and carefully preserved and protected so that it does not pass out of the district. 《programs》 Tono no uta, Rokunin yose no uta, Shin Kamakura no uta, Naginata no uta, and Kamakura no uta
