Tsurubami Distric Bo Odori (Stick/Staff Dance)

Category Name:Furyu (Stick/Staff Dance)

The bo-odori (stick dance) handed down from the Tsurubami district of Sakamoto Town is said to have been dedicated to the construction of the district Kannon-do Temple in 1830. Initially, it was dedicated with the Usu-daiko odori but now only the bo-odori continues. Handed down solely to the eldest sons of the district for generations, it was temporarily discontinued in 1971, but revived in 1983 and was therefore dedicated to shrines and Kannon-do festivals, but again has again been inactive in recent years.
